Cell Phones:

Cell phones are converted into 9-1-1 only phones and given to victims of domestic violence for emergencies.

All cell phones are accepted, including cell phones without chargers or accessories, and broken cell phones. If a phone cannot be converted, it is recycled. To donate, simply drop off, or mail cell phones to the Marjaree Mason Center administration building: 1600 M Street, Fresno, CA 93721.

Event Sponsorship:

Marjaree Mason Center holds two large annual fundraisers, and offers donors the opportunity to sponsor the events. The F.A.C.T. Fundraiser is typically held in spring and the Top Ten Professional Women Luncheon in fall. Each event offers unique opportunities for sponsor recognition.

Event Creation:

Some groups or businesses hold events of their own to benefit victims of domestic violence. For example, Renegade Classics holds an annual toy drive, the San Joaquin College of Law hosts a children's Christmas party, Cena to Go has hosted wine tastings, and Sister's Yoga has hosted parties – all to benefit the Marjaree Mason Center.

In-Kind Giving:

Many people, community groups, and businesses help victims of domestic violence by providing materials or a service. Past in-kind contributions have included painting, landscape maintenance, paving and cementing services, space-planning, Thanksgiving turkeys, etc. These services are organized by the Marjaree Mason Center's volunteer coordinator. For more information on in-kind giving, visit our volunteer page or contact:

Non-Wish-List Items:

If an item is not on the Wish List, please do not drop it off at the Marjaree Mason Center. The Marjaree Mason Center currently has an agreement with local Salvation Army Stores regarding donation of material goods.

Any material goods, such as clothing, furniture, toys, cribs, high chairs, and car seats may be dropped off at a local Salvation Army Store, or to schedule a pick-up, call 1-800-95-TRUCK and the Salvation Army will schedule a time to pick up your items.

Your donation will still help local victims of domestic violence because as a result of these donations, Marjaree Mason Center clients get to shop at the Salvation Army stores for free. A very good deal for clients who are very much in need!

Used Cars:

The Marjaree Mason Center accepts donations of used cars, even if the car doesn't run. These donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law. For details, please call (559) 237-4706, Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm.

Adopt-a-Room:

By allowing donors to take on costs associated with fixing up actual bedrooms at Fresno's only emergency shelter for victims of domestic violence, this program offers donors a unique opportunity to help women and children in crisis.

As the adopted rooms are transformed into refuges where victims will find comfort, donors are able to clearly see the impact of their goodwill. They receive pictures of their adopted rooms before, during, and after the refurbishing process. And when renovations are complete, plaques are placed above the doors of adopted rooms, naming them in honor of their adopters.

Once rooms are reopened, donors receive updates on how many women and children have found safe haven in their rooms, and how many nights of shelter their rooms provided.

The 22,000-square-foot Emergency Shelter has 44 adoptable rooms, and the cost of adopting ranges from $3,900 to $7,300, depending on the room's size and amount of repairs needed. Renovations include new paint, flooring, windows and window covers, beds and other furniture. And donors also have the option of teaming up to adopt a room, covering the cost of just one of the renovations.

In addition to bedrooms, donors can choose to adopt other rooms in the Emergency Shelter, such as the intake room, front office, case manager office, counselor's office, or even the linen closet.
